IN GOSSAMER GREY

Chicago: The Bookfellows, 1921. First Edition. Sewn wrappers; thin 12mo. 16 pp. Inscribed by the poet to Will Ransom, with Ransom's small bookplate on the back cover verso. Presumably Williams' first book as he also won the Yale Younger Poet Award in the same year, but that is not mentioned in the preliminaries. Covers mostly split, but binding cord holding, and else very good. Common title, scarce signed, and in this case a good association. Ransom was a noted typographer and book designer, and well known for his bibliographic work on private presses.The Bookfellows of which both Ransom and Williams seemed to belong was a Chicago literary society founded by George and Flora Steele both themselves authors.
