By E.M. Forster
London: Edward Arnold & Co, 1936. Very Good/Very Good -. London: Edward Arnold & Co., 1936. First Edition, First State with "A Flood in the Office" still present. Octavo; publisher's cloth in cream pictorial price-clipped dust jacket, grey topstain; viii,351pp. Moderate wear to jacket margins including a few tiny losses and closed tears, split along bottom third of rear spine edge, spine panel quite toned, small splash stain to front flap, corners nudged, else a Good to Very Good copy overall of an uncommon collection of essays.

This copy with "A Flood in the Office" still present. First published in 1919, this short essay about Sir William Willcocks' pamphlet "The Nile Project" caused an uproar in 1936 as well as a libel action. Remaindered copies of Abinger Harvest returned to the publisher were quickly unburdened of the offending article and a cancel inserted in its place.
