(B&W photographs) A full account -- in Spanish, and from the Soviet perspective -- of the trial of the U-2 "spy pilot" Francis Gary Powers, who was shot down over the USSR territory in May 1960 and taken into custody by the Soviet authorities. The many photographs include not only shots of the principals in the case (including Powers himself), but also of much of the evidence presented at his trial. (The full translation of the subtitle is: "materials on the judicial process of the criminal case brought against the American spy pilot Francis Gary Powers.") The fact that this was published in Uruguay -- where it's unlikely this was the hottest topic of the day (even though it certainly was a major Cold War incident) -- demonstrates the broad scope of the USSR's propaganda network. .
