By WRIGHT, Richard
New York: The Viking Press, 1946. Third printing. Hardcover. 152 pages. A powerful book that features the text by Richard Wright, the author of "Native Son." Includes a wide selection of photographs from some of the best photographers who worked for the Farm Security Administration. Among the photographers represented are Russell Lee, Arthur Rothstein, Dorothea Lange, Carl Mydans, Walker Evans, Ben Shahn and Edwin Rosskam who also was the photo-director of the book. An about very good copy in cloth boards with heavy bumping to the top right corner and to the spine ends and in an about very good dust jacket with some chips, tears, and extensive tape repairs to the verso. Increasingly uncommon in any of the early editions with a dust jacket.
