Octavo. 416 pp. First twenty-six issues of the New (i.e. Second) series from the influential and popular Federalist periodical, featuring articles on politics of the day along with poetry and letters. Bound in full contemporary calf with gilt ruling and black leather label to spine; edges sprayed. Light general wear and dust-soiling to boards, with scuffing down spine and dulling to gilt. Binding is sound. Recent ownership stamp to front pastedown; edges of endpapers toned; interior else mildly toned but unmarked and legible throughout. A Very Good or better copy of the earliest issues of the "New Series;" scarce in retail.
