Cornwall (U.K.): Primestyle Limited. Near Fine. 1970. First Edition. Stapled wraps. [nice clean copy, light handling wear only]. ("Formative Films" series) Series (B&W photographs) Short (32 pages) monograph on the work of film directors John Ford and Andrew V. McLaglen -- the latter being a sort of low-rent version of the former, by virtue not only of having gravitated to directing Westerns over the course of his career, but also as one of John Wayne's favored directors as Ford aged into inactivity. McLaglen had been an assistant director on a number of Wayne's films during the 1950s, and eventually directed five features starring the Duke between 1963 and 1973. He was also, of course, the son of actor Victor McLaglen, a longtime member of Ford's stock company; the only film on which all three worked together was THE QUIET MAN (1952). .
