Entirely Surrounded
- New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1934
New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1934. Very Good/Very Good. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1934. First Edition, stated. Octavo; publisher's cloth, red topstain, in pictorial dust jacket retaining original price ($2.00); [10],246pp. Light wear and soil to jacket, spine panel significantly faded, brief foxing to textblock fore-edge, a couple leaves dog-eared, else a Very Good copy, much nicer than usually encountered in the uncommon jacket.
The Oscar-winning screenwriter's fifth and final novel, the front jacket flap adorned with the rather unsympathetic notice that "This book will not appear in a cheaper edition before the Spring of 1936 unless it should meanwhile be produced as a motion picture." Evidently Entirely Surrounded was never produced as a motion picture, though Brackett did co-write the screenplays to The Lost Weekend (1945), Sunset Boulevard (1950), and Titanic (1953).
