"Caxton Printers deserve commendation not only for superb bookwork, but for the sort of things upon which they are willing to take a risk. They have recaptured the past in a long line of western Americana; they brought out the first of the excellent 'American Guide' series. Writers too frank or too limited in appeal to tempt commercial publishers have been given a voice. One of the most notable of these is Vardis Fisher, whose honest and disturbing early novels were neglected until Caxton published 'In Tragic Life,' which had been rejected by most Eastern houses.
