Boards show light plus to moderate wear to edges and head and tail of spine. Text block edges marbled; text block age toned with light plus foxing; front free endpaper significantly foxed and discolored. Internal cloth joint at rear of text block shows some evidence of insect damage. Significant bubbling to adhesive used on the final page of volume, and moderate chipping to the edges of that page. This sample book, intended for the use of a salesman, showcases a variety of customizable options for family bibles. It includes four possible covers (one pasted to paper at the rear of the volume and one mounted to the interior of the rear board), two designs for paneled spines, numerous sample plates (both black and white and color) and sample text pages, as well as samples of pages used to record births, deaths, and marriages and to hold family portraits.
