The spine ends and corners of the covers are gently bumped and rubbed and there is a very slight lean to the spine. In the dust jacket, illustrated by Adolf Born, with moderate rubbing and creasing to the edges. Text in Czech. Vladislav Vancura (1891-1942) was a Czech novelist, film director, playwright, and screenwriter. He was known for the following films: Pred maturitou (1932); Láska a lidé (1937); Nasi furianti (1937). Vancura was active in the Czech underground resistance and was killed by the Nazi Gestapo.

This book contains six illustrations by Czech painter and illustrator Adolf Born (1930-2016). Born was also involved in film. His art often mixes fantasy worlds, people, and animals.
