Salt Lake City, UT: Francis L. Horspool, 1946. Very good. Francis Horspool. Stapled pamphlet. 7.5" by 10.5". Grey paper wraps. Illustrated with black and white photos depicting the art of Francis L. Horspool. The pamphlet is a cross between a prospectus and an advertisement, featuring four of Horspool's paintings of Utah stage stations as they were in 1868 alongside the artist's description of each painting. Light wear and creasing, minor discolorations to rear cover. Francis Leroy Horspool (1871-1951) was a self-taught and self-proclaimed "primitive" painter. Horspool was born in Ogden, Utah. His father, William Horspool, was a British convert to the LDS Church who worked for Ben Holliday's Overland Stage Company between 1862-69 (biography adapted from Artists of Utah).
