Large folding color map in two sheets, each sheet 21.25 x 29.5 in.; showing roads, railways, cities, towns ports, shipping lines, and major resources such as tea, rubber and metals, insets of Singapore and greater East Asia; short closed tears and toning at folds, one small hole rubbed through paper in an ocean area, ex-library, with accession stamp and library seal (Possibly reading 台北東國寅字図書館) on versos. This map was one of many produced by Japan's colonial government in Taiwan in the leadup to Japan's invasion of Southeast Asia. It was published November 3rd of 1941. Roughly a month later, on December 8th, Japan attacked Malaysia (then occupied by the British) simultaneously with Pearl Harbor. The campaign was a great success for Japan, giving it access to important natural resources and forced labor.
