By Julius Shulman (Richard Neutra)
1948. Photograph. Fine. 7 original prints by the renowned LA-based architectural photographer Julius Shulman of his photographs of 2 mid-century houses designed by Richard Neutra. The prints, we believe, were developed in 1948 and each bears the stamp at the rear of Richard Neutra at his Los Angeles offices on Silverlake Boulevard. The 7 prints uniformly measure 8" wide x 10 1/2" tall and each is in lovely, near-pristine to pristine condition. Both homes featured are classic Mid-century modern, one --very likely in or near Palm Springs-- shows wonderful exterior shots of the house and the other shows inerior shots of another home (but with breathtaking views). A potent architectural combination to be sure, the coupling of the great Julius Shulman (1910-2009) and the equally formidable Richard Neutra (1892-1970), 2 of the great figures in 20th century Southern California architecture, and more specifically in Mid-century modern.
