England, 1844. Very good. Toned with chipping to lace paper.. An 1844 token of affection from an aunt to her niece, with original artwork of a bald eagle holding the American flag in its talons cut out and affixed to lace paper. The design was appears to have been carefully drawn in pencil and colored with watercolor. The verso reads in a light, delicate hand: "To Eliza Hamilton from her affectionate Aunt Margaret Wade. [?] Hill Oct 1st 1844. The American colors". Measures approx. 6" by 4.5
