Attractively bound in 20th century dark brown mottled calf with double-rule gilt to edges, raised bands on spine in compartments gilt, black leather titles gilt, all edges gilt. 1f. Hill, with his decoratively engraved bookplate to front pastedown incorporating floral motifs, a violin, and the motto "Alive I was a silent thing But dead divinest themes I sing" and with Hill's annotation in ink to front free endpaper "David Rutherford carried on his music business at 'The Violin and German Flute' as early as 1745. He was succeeded by his son, John, and most of their publications consisted of Country Dances. A.F.H." Several leaves with manuscript pagination in a contemporary hand.
