Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1924. Very Good. Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1924. First Edition. Octavo (18.1 cm), [vi], [335]pp. Cream publisher's dust jacket with navy printing and price intact. Boards bound in blue cloth with gilt stamping on the spine and a blind-tooled emblem on the front cover. Dust jacket discolored on spine and back cover, with some spotting on back cover. Spine joints have tears at the top and bottom and the spine itself is creased down the middle. Minor creases and tears elsewhere. Boards faded around margins with rubbing to the corners and bottom edge. Gilt stamping faded on spine but legible and spine head and tail have some bumping. Scraping and discoloration to the top and bottom edge of pages. Front hinge slightly cracked but binding firm. Both front and back endsheets have ghosts of erased notes from a previous owner and there are light pencil markings throughout. The back paste down has a sticker from the San Francisco Children's Bookshop, an interesting venue for this collection of morality essays.
