Printed for Henry Colburn of London, "published from the originals by Benjamin Franklin's grandson, William Temple Franklin". A handsome set, both volumes professionally re-backed in an elegant dark-brown by the Currier Bindery of Newport, Rhode Island, while maintaining the publisher's oriinal calf boards. Solid, tight and VG, with very mild soiling/streaking along the fore-edges, very mild abrading and ceasing along the spines. A bit of light, frgiveable foxing, otherwise very clean internally. Octavos, fold-out frontispiece to Vol. I. (Continuing from the title page: "Comprising Series of Letters of Miscellaneous, Literary, and Political Subjects: Written Between the Years 1753 and 1790; Illustrating the Memoirs of His Public and Private Life, and Developing the Secret History of His Political Transactions and Negotiations.").
