- Chicago , 9 June 1950
Chicago, 9 June 1950. Letter. Light creases from mailing. Fine. TYPED LETTER SIGNED in full on The University of Chicago stationery to Philip Rice of the Psychology Department of Kenyon College. In part: "I regret very much that I cannot send you a copy of my article, 'Individual and Mass Behavior in Extreme Situations,' because I am entirely out of copies." He then points out to Rice how he can find the article. An early writer on autism, Bettelheim's work focused on the education of emotionally disturbed children, as well as Freudian psychology more generally, as in his analysis of fairy tales in THE USES OF ENCHANTMENT.
