La Bête [The Beast] (Original lobby card for the 1975 film)
- Munich: Filmverlag der Autoren, 1975
Munich: Filmverlag der Autoren, 1975. Vintage borderless lobby card for the German release of the 1975 French film.
From the collection of artist and author Duncan Hannah.
Duncan Hannah was a key figure in the burgeoning New York underground arts scene, befriending Andy Warhol and his superstars, Lou Reed, Allen Ginsberg, Patti Smith, Salvador Dali, and many others. A graduate of the Parsons School of Design, his paintings were exhibited in the influential 1980 Times Square Show alongside work by Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat, and several of his paintings are held in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Originally conceived as a short film, used as the final installment of director Walerian Borowczyk's anthology film "Immoral Tales" (1973), and expanded in 1975 by the director into a surreal chamber drama.
Loosely based on Prosper Merimee's 1869 novella "Lokis." A young newlywed in the French countryside suspects her husband may be hiding a bestial secret. Noted director Walerian Borowczyk's sixth film, banned in the UK and US at the time of release, now rightfully considered a cult classic.
Set in the woods of France.
11.75 x 8.25 inches. Strong Very Good plus, with pinholes at the corners.
