Full tree calf , with gilt tooling to spine and boards, and gilt-lettered red leather spine label. Boards show light wear to edges and overall. Text block has occasional light foxing, and elegant ink presentation inscription on verso of second free end paper, dated 1794, indicating that this was presented to a John Brown of the University of Glasgow by William Richardson (likely a University of Glasgow Professor of Linguistics, 1743-1814). Frontispiece present. The first Bentley edition. All text block edges dyed yellow.
