Littleton, New Hampshire: Kilburn Brothers, 1870. Very good. Worn with a couple short tears, staining and chipping to foot of spine.. A rare survival of a highly ephemeral trade catalogue of stereoscopic views sold by Kilburn Brothers. The company, which operated under that name between 1865 and 1875, was founded by photographer Benjamin West Kilburn (1827-1909) and was known mostly for selling sweeping landscape stereoviews. This catalogue provides rare insight into the offerings of this notable company, and the interests of its customers. Organized by geographic region, the stereoviews offered here number over 1600, and range from what would have been the exotic to American buyers (e.g. Syria, Egypt, Mexico) to the familiar and local (e.g. Niagara Falls, the White House, a floral arrangement or litter of kittens). Each is numbered, and there is an index, with pricing in the front at the end of the preface. Single vol. (5" by 3"), pp. 52, in original blue printed wrps. 2 copies on WorldCat as of April 2024.
