From the cover-

"Lucien was introduced to this area [Point Lobos] in 1971 by Judy Dater and Jack Welpott with Wynn Bullock as his initial guide through the world of Edward Weston. He returned for the next 12 years to photograph Point Lobos as a guest of Ansel Adams. During his initial visits, Clergue discovered new symbols of life and death which have been recurring themes of his career. Using these symbols to narrate what he refers to as 'this bible in the rocks,' Clergue takes the viewer full circle from the creation of life to its spiritual return to the Universe."

Signed by Lucien Clergue on the half title page.
