The spine is mildly rolled, and the spine ends are gently bumped. There are a couple of trivial spots on the front board. In the illustrated dust jacket, with moderate shelf wear, and a small open tear to the bottom fore edge corner of the rear flap (obscuring solely one letter). Thomas Berger (1924-2014) was an American author most known for his 1964 novel "Little Big Man." His works are darkly comedic and often satirize the American condition.

Signed by the author on the free front endpaper. The author writes, "Thomas Berger, Grand View-on-Hudson, NY, 1 July 1994." The author has crossed out a letter penned in error in the inscription. With a typed letter, signed by the author, additionally laid in.
