London: Chapman & Hall. 1/2 leather. Very Good. George Cruikshak. Lovely late 19th century Chapman & Hall Dickens, bound in a contemporary-to-the-period 1/2 purple morocco over marbled boards. Solid and VG+, with light fading along the spine, decorative bookplate at the front pastedown and a band of offsetting at the rear panel's bottom-edge. Thick octavo, top-edge gilt, matching marbled endsheets and pastedowns as well. 39 wonderful full-page sketches by the formidable British caricaturist George Cruikshank (1792-1878).
