A long poem in blank verse, originally published in nine parts between 1742 and 1745. This edition includes the complete work and a biographical sketch of the author. This work was quite popular in its day, but became more so when William Blake provided illustrations for one of the editions printed in 1797. It influenced the works of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Edmund Burke, among others.
