A Man For All Seasons

By BOLT, Robert
New York: Random House, 1962. First Edition. First Printing. Octavo. 21cm. Publisher's black cloth spine over jade green paper covered boards, titled in gilt to spine with the Random House logo blindstamped on the front board. Dustjacket. 163pp. A little scuffed and bumped to extremities, most notably the spine ends, with a little flaking of the spine gilt, in a bright, strong example of the dustwrapper with some light soiling and wear, darkening to the spine panel, and some unnecessary tape reinforcement to the spine ends and inner hinges. A very good copy with some signs of use and wear. Internally clean. Top edge stained a rather faded blue, and with the ink ownership stamp of the Right Reverend Messenger A.F. DeLaura applied to it. Fore-edge untrimmed. A most acceptable copy of Bolt's majestic portrait of Sir Thomas More, Catholic saint, famed Renaissance humanist, author of "Utopia", Lord Chancellor to Henry VIII, and eventual martyr to the King's need to crush any form of resistance to his urges.
