New York: The Neale Publishing Company, 1910. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good binding. Large 8vo.; in the publisher's rray buckram, with titling in gilt, and with a rule in black to the perimeter of the upper board and the ends of the spine; 347 pages, with two frontispieces, and 23 additonal plates and portraits; the boards are lightly spotted, and the title page has a rubber stamp "Sold by the New York Herald" over a previous owner blindstamp; on the pastedown is the name label of a well-known Richmond collector Hubel Robin with a penned number, presumably from his library.~~Eicher observes that this account "contains valuable muster rolls for the 1st, 4th and 10th Texas Infantry and intriguing biographical sketches of many of the members [as well as] a list of Appomatox paroles." Krick tells us that "[t]his is one of the most famous Confederate unit histories"; he notes that company rosters are most valuable, and (true to form) adds that "equipage enthusiasts will be delighted with a sketch of a unifromed and accoutered member of the brigade, dated 1861".~~A presentable copy of this important Neale title.~~ (Eicher , 1047; Krick 401). Very Good binding.
