Virginia, 1864. War date clipped autograph endorsement, dated Feb. 18th 1864. mounted with steel engraving. Endorsement includes signatures of W.H. Taylor, AAG (Adjutant-General of the Army of Northern Virginia) and H.B. McClellan (Major, Assistant Adjutant-General, and Chief of Staff of the Cavalry Corps, Army of Northern Virginia) on behalf of J.E.B. Stuart. Professionally mounted and framed (measuring 14.5 in. x 9 in.). Endorsement in Good condition with mild age toning. Signature of WH Taylor is clear but slightly faded. Glass has abrasion along right edge. JL Consignment. Shelved in DuPont. Column One: "Referred to Genl. Stuart who will cause the return of the soldier or show reason why it should not be done.
