By Margaret Mitchell
New York: Macmillan, 1975. Cloth. Very Good +. A handsome copy of the 1975 stated 1st printing of the first "Anniversary edition". The elegant Introduction by James Michener ties into the uniqueness of this copy, in which the former owner --a doctor from Trumbull, CT named A.E. Giangrasso-- was called down to Southport, CT to investigate the death (a suicide) of the former head of Macmillan (and young James Michener's boss for a spell) -- George P. Brett. Doctor Giangrasso, as he explains in his handwritten note on the front free endpaper, wrote to James Michener to break this sad news to him and the 1 pg, typed letter from Michener in response (the TLS) is what accompanies this copy of the Anniversary edition of GWTW. Small former owner inscription and bookplate at the front pastedown, blindstamp of Dr. Giangrasso below his inscription, otherwise very clean. Thick octavo, also includes a very sharp copy of the publisher's printed laminate slipcase. Plus of course James Michener's 8 1/2" x 11" signed typed letter to Dr. Giangrasso.
