Very Good in a Very Good jacket, clipped but stamped with a new price ($4.50), generally rubbed at the surface and edges, a scuff on the spine. Black cloth with blue and white ink lettering and designs on the spine and front board. Square and firmly bound, a few stains at the edges, additional inscription on the half-title, clean otherwise. Sarraute's novel of "a tubercular young man who demands 'to know...always what they are hiding, to peer behind their outside decorations, to see confirmed what I scent, what I forsee.'
