In 1857, a group of 120 emigrants on their way to California were slaughtered by Mormons and their Native American Allies. This event became known as the Mountain Meadows Massacre and 20 years later the LDS church member, massacre participant, and part of Brigham Young's inner circle, John D. Lee was executed as a scapegoat for the horrific massacre. "Red Water" is the story of John D. Lee told through the perspective of 3 out of 19 of his wives.
