New Rochelle, New York, 1942. Very good. Minor toning, the odd spot, nick, or letter fold.. A small collection of ephemera offering a window into the activities and life of the Jewish community of New Rochelle, New York and surrounding areas, between 1933 and 1942. All belonging to a Mr. "J. Span" of New Rochelle, an evidently active and generous member of the Jewish community. In total there are seventeen (17) items, including: 1 membership card; 1 printed invitation; 1 event handbill; 1 program; 2 printed donation receipts; 3 smaller printed donation receipts; 1 printed letter; 3 handwritten letters; 3 typewritten letters; and 1 reproduction of a handwritten letter. Includes items in English, Yiddish, and some items providing readers with both. Provides important insight into this community's activities during WWII. The items include, in chronological order:

Typewritten letter dated Feb. 27th, 1935 from the Morning Freiheit Jewish Daily of New York City, measuring 11" by 8.5".
Two (2) receipts for donations to the Independent Mogelnitzer Benevolent Assocation dated 1936 and 1940, accompanied by two original envelopes. Measure 9" by 6".
Printed membership card finished in ink manuscript of Mr. J. Span(?) of the Temple Israel of New Rochelle, for the year 1938. Measures approx. 2.5" by 4", verso blank.

Printed invitation inviting recipient to a meeting of the Anshe Sholom Sisterhood in New Rochelle on February 2nd, 1942. Addressed/postmarked on verso. Measures approx. 3.25" by 5.5".

Printed letter [1943?] inviting attendees to a Mogelnitzer Relief Committee event in New York City to support relatives and friends in war-torn Europe. Measures 11" by 8.5".
