(Belper, Derbyshire): Aggie Weston’s Editions, 1977. First edition of this collaboration between American poet Jonathan Williams and English artist Barbara Jones. Williams produces “miniscule poems” inspired by the whimsical names of English dishes like “Wet Nelly,” “Spotted Dick,” “Tatty Oggy,” and “Fat Rascals:” “i protrude / my belly / over Shelley / & / don’t get on / much.” Jones contributes a series of line drawings that exist in uneasy tension with the verse. One of 950 copies, issued simultaneously with a signed and numbered subscribers’ edition of 50: this copy is, however, signed by Jonathan Williams on the first page. A fine signed copy of an oddly compelling chapbook. Side-stapled pamphlet, measuring 5.75 x 4.25 inches: [32]. Original stiff green wrappers, unclipped color pictorial dust jacket. Black and white line drawings throughout text. Signed by Jonathan Williams in purple ink on opening page. Housed in lightly foxed original mailing envelope.
