The 1922 and 1923 first 2 volumes (of 3 total) of this lovely rendering by the fine press of Darmstadt's Ernst Ludwig of Goethe's Faust. Both volumes tight and VG+ in their 1/4 vellum over light-green boards. With lovely gilt top-edges and deckled fore and bottom-edges. The striking typeface and chapter headings and initials were executed by the printer Christian Kleukens of Frankfurt. Both volumes solid and Near Fine, with just a touch of very faint soiling along the spine. Uniform quartos, Vol. also includes a sturdy, VG example of the publisher's dark-green card slipcase, with light wear along the edges.
