By Anthony Berkeley
New York: The Crime Club, Inc. / Doubleday, Doran & Co, 1939. Very Good. New York: The Crime Club, Inc. / Doubleday, Doran & Co., 1939. First Edition stated. Octavo (20 cm); [xii], 273pp. No dust jacket. Boards full bound in mauve cloth with dark blue stamping. Blue top stain and fore edge deckled. Boards worn at corners with bumping to spine ends and minor discoloration to margins. Binding slightly cocked but sturdy. Endsheets toned with off setting from spine glue. Crime Club Selection blurb on first page has some text lifted to the facing page from sticky residue (an eager and eating reader, perhaps?). Brief and unobtrusive pencil marks throughout. A Very Good copy of one of England's prolific mystery writers of the early 20th century.
