England, 1840. Very good to near-fine. Light toning, a couple spots.. An attractive early hand-colored valentine dating from approx. the 1840s, featuring a bouquet of flowers and a two-stanza poem:
Rosy lips may tempt the taste,
Dazzling eyes may lure us,
Without the heart tis but a waste,
That hope betrayed ensures us.
Oh! whilst in you I daily trace,
An Angels form, an angels face,
With all that reason or taste approve,
How can I see you, and not love?
