United States, 1900. Good to very good. Toned and some brittleness. Panorama sometime split in two. Dust soiling, the occasional short tear or lifting where pasted to sheet.. A skillful collection of folk art nursery rhyme scenes, showcasing one maker's talent for storytelling through the art of cut paper. Each example has been created by folding black construction paper several times, making one or more cuts on one or two edges only, then unfolding the paper to reveal a repeating scene. In total there are twenty-three (23) cut work scenes mounted on nine (9) large 18" by 12" sheets of paper. Six of the sheets have been attached end-to-end, making a panorama-style view of the artwork. The three remaining sheets are separate and contain the following six nursery rhyme scenes, with the rhymes handwritten below each: Mary Had a Little Lamb; Mary Mary Quite Contrary; Three Little Kittens; Sing a Song of Sixpence; I had a little pony, His name was Dapple Grey; and Jack and Jill Went Up the Hill. Other unlabeled scenes on the other sheets include what appears to be Goldilocks and the Three Bears, a witch at her cauldron, toy soldiers on horses, and what appears to be the Queen of Hearts. Each scene measures approx. 4.5" by 12", with some as tall as 9
