Paul and Clara Gebauer assembled a superb collection of Cameroonian art, acquired during their years in Cameroon, where they served as missionaries. The Gebauers knew personally many of the individuals who owned or made the works in the Collection. They witnessed particular masks, guardian figures, stools, and other objects actually functioning in Cameroon society. Every piece in their collection reveals not only the knowledge, taste, and interest of the Gebauers but their love.
