Top half of spine starting to separate with small loss at spine crown, boards a bit unevenly toned and lightly damp stained, soil along joint gutters, fairly extensive contemporary underlining throughout; a Good to Very Good, internally sound copy.

Uncommon printed edition of a speech delivered by the French Roman Catholic Cardinal du Perron (1556-1618) before the states-general. Du Perron, a staunch ultramontanist, argued forcefully against a proposed oath to the crown that had been introduced to the Estates General.
