Very Good/Good +. 240pp. Duodecimo [20 cm] Rose-colored paper over boards. 1955 printed on the title page and 1954 printed on the copyright page. The spine slants forward a bit and the spine ends are just a tad rubbed. In the dust jacket illustrated by Irving Zussman, with several subtle areas of moisture staining. The majority of the moisture staining runs from the head to the foot of the front inside flap, along the fold. Else, the edges are just a little chipped and rubbed, and the spine is sunned (title still bold). The $2.75 price is intact in the upper right corner of the front inside flap. Despite these flaws, the jacket presents quite well. A first edition of the author's second book, a western novel. Leonard's first two novels were westerns- the genre that made him a writer and a genre that remained close to his heart throughout his career.
