Boards full bound in calf with gilt stamping to spine with a stamped and pasted maroon leather label. Page edges red flecked; Marbled paper endsheets; Green silk ribbon. Boards shelfworn with rubbed and worn corners, rubbed margins, and generally scuffed and dust-soiled covers. Spine showing creases in the leather but holding firm. Boards bowing out from the fore edge slightly. Endsheets lightly soiled and rubbed with ink stains to the verso of the back free endsheet. Pages generally toned and foxed throughout. Pen and pencil to the first flyleaf and title page with Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Verdun library rubber stamps to half title. A Very Good copy.

A catechism for Christians written by Jesuit priest Francois Nepveu, whom the Catholic Encyclopedia describes as "a man of great zeal and intelligence.
