Though now neglected, Wescott was among the more colorful figures of the American expatriate community in Paris of the 1920's, openly gay and disliked by both Hemingway and Gertrude Stein, who wrote of Wescott, "he has a certain syrup, but it does not pour." This, his third published book, is an aesthetic if not a literary triumph, designed and published by Francesco Bianco, a one-time bookseller and the husband of Margery Williams of Velveteen Rabbit fame.
