The inhabitants of the town of Albuquerque sought claim to four square leagues of land, while De Witt Stearns and Thomas G. Douglas claimed the right of entry, under the homestead laws, on some of the property. Includes testimony by long-time inhabitants from the period of Mexican administration. The surveyor-general denied the claims of Stearns and Douglas.
