By Ernest Hemingway
New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1927. Cleonike Damianakes. Cloth. Near Fine/Very Good +. A very presentable copy of the March 1927 7th printng (so stated on the dustjacket spine). In fact, since its October 1926 debut, a new printing was issued every month (with 2 printings in Feb. 1927), as this same spine definitively states. Clean and VG+ to Near Fine in its dark cloth, with bright, completely unrubbed gilt title-labels at the front panel and spine. Except for a neat pencil signature and date at the front free endpaper, the book is clean as could be internally, with no writing or markings whatsover. And in a crisp, price-intact ($2.00), VG to VG+ example of the famous Cleonike Damianakes-designed dustjacket, with mild darkening along the spine and a degree of light chipping at the spine ends (more along the spine crown, with 1" of loss, including to the word "Sun"). Still though, a sharp, well-preserved copy of arguably Hemingway's greatest achievement. In its scarce original dustjacket and, as such, markedly above-average.
