Bound in contemporary calf ruled in gilt with five raised bands, gilt tooling, and leather title label to spine; marbled edges and endpapers. Light wear to extremities; shallow nick to crown; corners bumped with brief exposure. Binding sound. Exposure to gutter of advertisements page; else unmarked and a Very Good and sound copy of Eliot's masterpiece, which Virginia Woolf called, "the magnificent book which with all its imperfections is one of the few English novels written for grown-up people." Single volume Blackwood copies scarce in retail at time of this writing.
