New York: Grosset & Dunlap. Near Fine in Very Good+ dj. (c.1926). First Edition Thus. Hardcover. [an exceptionally nice copy, with minimal wear to book; light edgewear to jacket, with a teensy bit of paper loss at the bottom front flapfold]. (4 B&W film stills) Photoplay Edition of this rousing Foreign Legion adventure yarn, a tie-in with the first of three big-screen adaptations of the book (Paramount, 1926 and 1939; Universal, 1966). (It's also been adapted for TV, radio and the stage, and has inspired numerous parodies and knock-offs, most notably the 1977 Marty Feldman-starring farce THE LAST REMAKE OF BEAU GESTE.) This one starred Ronald Colman and William Powell, and was directed by Herbert Brenon. Great wrap-round dust jacket art, .
