[Saint Paul, Minnesota]: Louis F. Dow Co, 1920. Very good to near-fine. Minor toning, edge wear.. A striking set of ten (10) unused Art Deco greeting cards, each measuring approx. 7" by 10.25" and printed in bold colors: pinks, teals, yellows and oranges. They have remained unfolded and unmarked, and together make a graphically striking piece. The illustrations include: a stylish bride on the arm of her groom; children flying kites; spectators cheering on a winter football game; children walking to school with their slates; a group of friends celebrating the New Year; a couple buying a bouquet of flowers in the spring; friends sailing in the summer; a couple hunting with their three spaniels; a woman swinging on a swing with a May pole dance in the background; and a stylish couple flouncing into a fancy hotel, with an army of porters carrying luggage behind them. The cards are not only notable for their bright, nice condition, but for their unique use of color.
Deckled edge front cover. Some are marked "Sec. 435 1/2 P.L&R". Given the appearance. The Louis F. Dow Company was a St. Louis base printing company best known for brightly colored calendars (including pin-ups), cards, and related ephemera, through the 1940s.
