An illustrated chap book published by the American Tract Society, instructing children in the importance of learning to read and careful study of the Bible. Includes a small wood engraved vignette on each page. What makes this copy notable is the handmade binding sewn on by an early owner, made from a green engraved textile label. The label advertises the Merrimack brand of fabrics with color fast prints, and depicts the manufacturing town with and engraved flourished border and blank space for yardage to be recorded in manuscript. 16mo (4.25" by 2.75"), pp. 15, [1], illus., in contemporary handmade binding made from engraved textile label.
