New York: Alfred A. Knopf. Fine in Near Fine dj. (c.1974). First Edition. Hardcover. [nice clean book with no discernible wear; the jacket is similarly nice, but downgraded a step due to some mild sun-browning to the spine]. Another novel in which the author demonstrates again his "mysterious and convincing grasp of the recognizably human feelings that lodge amidst the demonic and the strange," his protagonist here certainly filling the bill, having been "born with teensy tadpole legs -- three inches around [but with] elephant arms [that] make up for it. They're twenty-two inches in diameter and so strong he can (and does) balance on the end of one finger. He's deaf, too; and dumb." And then there's that curse thing. .
