A notebook hand-titled “Teacher’s Book District No. 1” from Canandaiqua, Ontario County, New York. It includes lists of students and accounts of visits from the trustees and inspections for the years 1841 to 1862. Each list of students reads, “a list of the scholars who attended the District School of District No. 1 in the town of Canadaiqua during the term commencing the eighth day of November 1841 and the number of days they respectively attended the same.” The final pages list inspections and visits from trustees and board members over the years. One of these reads, “Marshall Finley being duly sworn deposes the foregoing is a true account of the days on which the school in district No. 1 in the town of Canadaiqua was visited by the Town Inspectors during the term commencing 8th day of Nov. 1841.”.
